India faces heightened vulnerability to climate change repercussions, given its diverse geography and socio-economic conditions. The adverse impacts are already impacting the economy, potentially pushing an additional 50 million people below the poverty line by 2040. Urgent investment in climate adaptation is imperative for sustained development. Despite commendable government efforts, substantial funding gaps persist at both national and state levels.
