Landscape of Green Finance in India: The Way Forward for Transformational Change

India will require ~INR 162.5 thousand crores (USD 2.5 trillion) from 2015 to 2030, roughly INR 11 trillion (USD 170 billion) per year, to finance its NDC goals. While climate finance is increasing, we are still significantly short of our climate finance needs.

In November 2021, India ratcheted its climate ambitions at the Conference of Parties 26 (COP26) and announced the target to reach 500 GW of renewable energy generation by 2030. India also announced its aim to achieve Net Zero by 2070.

In this event, CPI will launch and present the latest findings from the “Landscape of Green Finance in India” report, which measures public and private sources of green capital in India for 2021 and 2022. This event brings together stakeholders engaged in the green and climate space to discuss India’s economic and financial progress so far in the climate arena and to deliberate on how green investment can be enabled. Finance can be mobilized from public, private, and blended financing.
